Tal "Fly" Aizik, a member of the North American team nouns from Israel, reflected on the current state of the professional Dota 2 scene in North America during an interview.
He acknowledged that Dota in North America is indeed facing challenges, with hardly anyone playing on the region's server anymore, as both South and North American players have shifted to Europe. Fly expressed his belief that the Dota scene in the region is unlikely to see new players emerging anytime soon.
He admitted uncertainty about how the North American scene could be revived but suggested that giving the region two slots in certain tournaments might help other teams. Fly also highlighted the potential positive impact if an organisation were willing to support a core of North American players, such as three local talents and a couple of others.
Fly also shared his thoughts on BetBoom Team, describing them as somewhat unpredictable. He noted that while they have very strong players on paper, including the highest combined MMR at The International 2024, something consistently seems to go wrong for them. He mentioned that although they dominated his team in the group stage, Team Zero later defeated BetBoom 2-0, with the latter throwing away a significant lead in one game. He remarked on their inconsistency in performance.
