Thrilling Matches and Crystallis’ First Triumph

ESL One Bangkok 2024 has concluded, leaving fans with unforgettable games, unexpected moments, and heartfelt player reactions. The tournament ran from 9 to 15 December in Thailand's capital, where the world's best teams battled for a prize pool of $1 million and 20,940 EPT points.

Team Liquid Defeats Team Falcons in a Dramatic Series

The lower-bracket quarter-final between Team Liquid and Team Falcons was one of the most intense matches of the tournament. The series ended 2-1 in favour of Mike "miCKe" Wu’s squad. Following the victory , Liquid’s carry indulged in a bit of trolling, typing "bye-bye" in the game's all-chat.

Team Liquid’s support, Samuel "Boxi" Svahn, shared his thoughts on the match:

"This was probably the closest series we’ve ever played. Obviously, we’ve got a bit of a rivalry with Team Falcons, so it felt great to win this time. The third map was a bit rough—I may have fed a little—but it’s always satisfying to turn a game around. Those moments in Dota 2 are always something special."

Team Falcons’ loss meant their tournament run ended in joint 5th–6th place. Falcons offlaner Ammar "ATF" Assaf wittily reacted to Remco "Crystallis" Arets’ victory with PARIVISION on X (formerly Twitter), calling him "finally the worst carry to ever do it."

Crystallis and PARIVISION Crowned Champions

In the ESL One Bangkok 2024 grand final, PARIVISION defeated Team Liquid 3-1. This victory marked the first Tier-1 tournament win for the team’s carry, Remco "Crystallis" Arets. Previously, he was the runner-up at The International 2022 as a member of Team Secret.

Crystallis shared a photo with the trophy on X, receiving both congratulations and playful jabs from his former teammates, including ATF.

A Word from Team Falcons

After their elimination, Team Falcons’ player Andreas Frank "Cr1t-" Nielsen reflected on the team’s journey:

"Looking back from TI, we’re doing well—actually a bit better than we expected. We’ve got a good mix of experienced players and youngsters eager to learn. Losing here and there is good for us. It helps strike a balance between confidence in our wins and the understanding that we need to keep grinding to stay among the best."
