Streamer Alexander "VooDooSh" Shalchinov recalled the early days of Dota events in computer clubs. In his opinion, the emergence of esports in MOBAs was facilitated by mixed tournaments.
"When mix tournaments were held for Dota, everyone came there with a beer in hand. Everyone just laughed at who would end up where. Why were these tournaments popular? There was a chance for the average player to win. When 3x3 or 5x5 competitions were held, there was no chance. One strong team would gather and wipe out everyone.
That's why computer clubs acted wisely by starting to hold mixed tournaments with random lineups. Such events immediately started gathering 30-100 participants. People realized that they didn't need to bother with forming a team and practicing. They could just come with a beer, join some team, hope it was better than the opponents, and win. That's how modern Dota and esports were born. I'm telling you, esports in Dota was born with a beer in hand." - Alexander "VooDooSh" Shalchinov
Earlier, Shalchinov pondered the issues of playing at high ranks. In his opinion, there's too much toxicity there due to the large number of gamers who tried to break into esports but didn't succeed.
VooDooSh is one of the most popular streamers of "Heroes 3." His Twitch channel has over 382.5 thousand followers. Shalchinov also regularly streams Dota 2. The content creator has always been interested in the discipline but decided to start broadcasting live streams on it only after the release of the global patch 7.33.
