Y0nd Explains Why People Buy Dota 2 Accounts

Dota 2 analyst and streamer Oleg "y0nd" Vazhnov discussed the reasons behind the purchase of high-ranked accounts. In his opinion, players believe that high MMR matches are better.

"Why do people buy accounts? It usually goes like this: 'I can't climb higher than my rank, surely the matches at high MMR are amazing, I'll play there and always win.' And then: 'How did we lose? Darn, it didn't work out after all.'" - Oleg "y0nd" Vazhnov

Earlier, streamer Timur "Travoman" Khafizov talked about when he'll return to 11k MMR. He believes that he could easily reach that rank if he set his mind to it. However, for now, he's just playing for fun.

It's worth noting that buying accounts with high rankings is not unique to Dota 2 alone. This phenomenon has been prevalent in various online gaming communities for ages. Players often seek shortcuts to reach higher ranks or experience more competitive gameplay without putting in the time and effort required to climb the ladder legitimately.
